Industries, hotels, hospitals, housing projects and other users who draw groundwater need a no objection certificate, and renewals have to be applied for before the existing NOC lapses. In Punjab, groundwater extraction is regulated by the Punjab Water Regulation and Development Authority, while the Central Ground Water Authority’s framework applies in other states.
We prepare and file the application, coordinate the supporting reports, track the conditions attached to the NOC, such as metering, recharge and reporting, and handle renewals. Where a notice is issued for extraction without permission, we advise on regularisation and respond on the client’s behalf.
In accordance to the draft guidelines issued by Punjab Water Regulation and Development Authority (PWRDA), constituted under the Statutory Authority established under Section 3 of PWRDA Act (2), 2020, commercial and industrial users of groundwater, including institutions, construction and infrastructure projects withdrawing ground water require ad interim permission / prior permission to draw ground water from the competent authorities.
